Afe Babalola University Confers Honorary Doctorate Degree on African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina
The Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria, has conferred a Doctor of Letters, Honoris Causa on the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina in recognition of his immense contributions to socio-economic development on the continent.
John Olachy Momoh, Chairman of Channels Media Group, Nigeria’s multi award-winning television station also received an Honoris Causa at the 6th Convocation ceremony of the University held on Sunday 21 October 2018 at the University Campus in Ado Ekiti.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has released its second Trade Finance in Africa survey report: “Trade Finance in Africa: Overcoming Challenges”.

The African Development Bank has approved over US$100 million in loans to SA Taxi Development Finance Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of SA Taxi Finance Holdings Proprietary Limited, a vertically integrated business platform that provides a comprehensive financial and allied services offering to minibus taxi operators.
The minibus taxi system accounts for about 69 percent of all public transport trips in South Africa. The financing will support the Company’s growth plans and initiatives to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the country’s mass transit segment.
AfDB President begins first official visit to Nigeria
Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), started his first official visit in Nigeria on Monday with an interactive session with the Government’s economic team chaired by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo. The session focused on how the Bank can help the country overcome it current recession.
ADEA signs MoU with IsDB on cooperation in the education sector in Africa
The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA)have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) related to the cooperation in the education sector in Africa. The objective of the MoU is to support common Member Countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Africa’s Agenda 2063.
