400,000 Tunisians to benefit from AfDB water program
Phase II of an African Development Bank-funded water program in Tunisia will improve water services for about 400,000 rural Tunisians. Approved by the Bank’s Board of Directors on September 6, 2016, this program is designed to provide clean drinking water mostly to needy rural communities in about 20 prefectures.
African Water Facility: Improving Mozambique’s resilience to climate change and reducing vulnerability to floods
The African Water Facility (AWF) has granted €1.8 million to Mozambique to finance a development plan and feasibility studies for urban sanitation, drainage and solid waste management in Chimoio and Inhambane. The 310,000 inhabitants of the two municipalities are facing serious sanitation and urban flood issues.
African countries urged to prioritize mechanized agriculture for increased productivity
Limited use of improved technology is a major reason for low agricultural productivity across Africa, the African Development Bank (AfDB) has said at the ongoing African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) in Nairobi.
“Low use of technology is partly why Africa continues to be a net importer of food ,” Chiji Ojukwu, the AfDB Director for Agriculture and Agro-Industry stated Tuesday, adding that over 60 percent of the continent’s land has irrigation potential, yet only five percent of it is under irrigation.

The workshop, organised by the Ministry of Energy and Water (MINEA) concluded work to define Angola’s long-term objectives on energy access, energy efficiency and renewable energy, as well as the priority actions required to achieve them.
