African Development Bank launches regional consultation workshops with civil society in Dakar
The African Development Bank (AfDB) began the first of a series of five regional consultations with African civil society on August 31, 2016 in Dakar. Sixty people, members of West African civil society and AfDB representatives, took part in this three-day meeting.
“Regional consultations with civil society are aimed at strengthening mechanisms to assist the Bank in its development programme,” stated the AfDB’s Acting Resident Representative to Senegal.
African Development Bank launches US$2 Billion 3.00% Global Benchmark due 20 September 2023
The African Development Bank, rated Aaa (Moody’s)/AAA(S&P)/AAA(Fitch), has launched and priced its new US$2-billion 5-year Global Benchmark bond, due 20 September 2023.
Launched on September 13, this new deal is the Bank’s second US$ benchmark transaction of the year, following the US$2-billion 3-year Global Benchmark priced on March 2018. With its latest issue, the Bank continues to meet its objective of funding strategy to issue large liquid benchmark transactions and extend its benchmark curve.

La Banque africaine de développement (BAD), en collaboration avec la Commission Financement du Secteur Privé et du Fonds de Garantie (CFSP), de la Confédération Générale des Entreprises de Côte d’Ivoire (CGECI Patronat Ivoirien), et le Cabinet ESPartners ont procédé à la cérémonie de lancement officiel du Forum « La finance s’engage ». Cette cérémonie de lancement vient en prélude à la tenue du Forum stratégique de haut niveau qui se tiendra le 24 novembre 2016 dans les locaux de la BAD.
Guinea becomes first African nation to contribute to the ALSF
The Republic of Guinea has become the first African nation to make a voluntary financial contribution to the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF).
Commenting on the contribution, the ALSF Director, Stephen Karangizi, thanked the Government of Guinea for its support. “This contribution is timely and will go towards our efforts to assist African countries to negotiate complex commercial transactions, creditor litigation and other related sovereign transactions”, he said.
