Senegal: African Development Bank supports prudent debt management and Senegal’s National Development Strategy
On September 5th, 2018, the Board of Directors of the African Development Bank approved a partial credit guarantee for the Republic of Senegal to help hedge currency risk arising from Eurobonds. This innovative operation aims to support the Senegalese government’s efforts to improve the predictability of its debt servicing and enhance prudent management.
AfDB President offers roadmap towards agriculture transformation at TICAD Summit
The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, has outlined a roadmap towards the transformation of agriculture in Africa. The President laid emphasis on combating malnutrition in children, turning African farmlands into major suppliers of food for export and putting funds at the disposal of local banks to create a stable source of funding for farm investments.
14 September 2018 deadline for applications to Next African Global IT Leaders Program, spring 2019
The African Development Institute of the African Development Bank has announced the implementation of the Next African Global IT Leaders Program under the aegis of the Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation (KOAFEC) Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP).
The objective of the program is to create a critical mass of highly trained professionals in ICT across the African continent at the level of Global IT experts.
AfDB and Japan Announce US$3 Billion Private Sector Development Initiative to Boost Growth and Reduce Poverty in Africa
The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Government of Japan announced today they have set a joint target to provide US$ 3 billion for private sector development in Africa during the next three years, substantially increasing the resources devoted to boosting economic growth and fighting poverty in the region. The resources will be provided under the third phase of the Enhanced Private Sector Assistance for Africa (EPSA) initiative.
An emotional tribute in memory of former AfDB President Babacar Ndiaye
"Goodbye, Papa, farewell to the ambassador for Africa's development, rest in peace." In an intensely emotional tribute, the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, opened a ceremony honouring Babacar Ndiaye at the organisation's headquarters in Abidjan.
Adesina announced that the AfDB headquarters auditorium will from now on be named Babacar Ndiaye Auditorium.
Babacar Ndiaye, the Bank Group's fifth elected President, who served two terms between 1985 and 1995, passed away on July 13, 2017 in Senegal.
