“Water and sanitation will remain one of the key development challenges facing African communities and nations, with direct impacts on economic growth,” warned the African Development Bank (AfDB) at the ongoing 6^th Africa Water Week (AWW6), holding in Dar es Salam, Tanzania, from 18-22 July 2016.

An award ceremony for top significant change stories following a competition to identify innovative projects that have contributed to advancing girls’ education in Africa was held in Nairobi recently.

The July 7, 2016 event was organised by the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) in partnership with the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA). The three most innovative stories were selected based on the criteria of access to education, retention and performance.

The President of the African Development Bank Group, Akinwumi Adesina, has made an urgent call to give farmers across the continent new technologies with the potential to transform agricultural production. Adesina said the technology transfer was needed immediately  and that evidence from countries like Nigeria demonstrated  that technology plus strong government backing was already yielding positive results.

La Banque africaine de deéveloppement (BAD) a pris part, le 19 juillet, à Londres, à une rencontre en amont de la 6^e conférence internationale de Tokyo sur le développement de l'Afrique (Tokyo International Conference on African Development ou TICAD VI). Ce sommet TICAD, sera le premier à être organisé en Afrique et aura lieu à Nairobi, au Kenya, les 27 et 28 août 2016.
