Objectives

Increase aquaculture production, resulting in increased income, increased availability of quality fish, increasing national (fish)food security and safety


Rationale

The aquaculture industry is capital intensive and financing is necessary to facilitate the growth of Namibian aquaculture entrepreneurs, to assist in infrastructure development as well as the creating a conducive regulatory and environmental framework to ensure the sustainability. The project will support several strategic objectives including economic growth and diversification, regional integration and trade and enhanced food security. Freshwater aquaculture forms a vital link to Namibia's efforts to secure national and household food security, create employment especially for the most vulnerable communities, encourage product diversification, reduce poverty and promote sustainable economic growth.
