The Presidential Youth Advisory Group (PYAG)

The African Development Bank is putting young women and men at the center of its investments through human capital projects focused on youth entrepreneurship, education and skills development.

Since the launch of the Jobs for Youth in Africa Initiative in 2016, the Bank has invested over $11 billion in 175 projects focused on job creation, youth entrepreneurship and equipping young people with the skills needed for the digital economy.

In 2018, the Bank launched the Coding for Employment program to prepare youth for  jobs of today and tomorrow. The Bank is also leveraging its influence to urge governments across Africa to commit the right resources and enact policies to ensure a path to prosperity is within reach for youth, women and children.

In 2018, the Bank secured $40 million for the Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Multi-Donor Trust Fund to promote a policy-enabling environment for a youth entrepreneurship ecosystem.

As part of the Bank’s commitment to amplify the voices of Africa’s youngest citizens, President Adesina launched the Presidential Youth Advisory Group (PYAG). PYAG provides an important platform for the Bank to hear directly from young changemakers on ways to harness, the skills, talents and ideas of Africa’s youth.

The vision is to build inclusive and transformative African economies where young people across different countries, socio-economic strata, rural-urban divides, gender, and age groups have access to productive, sustainable opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship.

PYAG was established to bring together young global and African leaders to work with the Bank to reach African youth  for a truly youth led economic transformation agenda.
