28/11/2017 - The last decade has witnessed two converging trends which promise to transform capacity building in the legal discipline: The growing availability of broadband connections in Africa, and the increasing recognition of remote-learning as an effective means of knowledge-sharing. With these developments in mind, the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) has leveraged its vast experience in capacity building projects to design a robust e-learning platform which will offer a three-level certification program to aspiring African lawyers through the ALSF Academy.

15/06/2017 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group and Export Trading Group (ETG) marked a significant milestone on May 30 with the signing of a US$ 100 million loan to finance part of the company’s Agricultural Investment Program (IP) in Africa which will promote employment for youths and women, and adopt an integrated value-chain approach that emphasizes access to regional and global markets.

31/03/2017 - The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) approved USD 253.0 million of loans to the Governments of Kenya (USD 147.3 million) and Uganda (USD 105.7 million) for the upgrading of 118 km road section connecting the two countries as well as the construction of the 32 km Eldoret town bypass, in Kenya. Once completed in 2021, the project will contribute to improve the living standards of the 1.4 million people in the project zone of influence.

31/03/2017 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved a project preparation grant of USD 2.3 million to kick-start future investments in decentralized power systems in rural and urban areas in Uganda. The grant was provided by the Scaling–Up Renewable Energy Programme of the Climate Investment Funds managed by the AfDB’s Department of Climate Change and Green Growth.

15/12/2016 - Le Fonds des énergies durables pour l’Afrique (connu sous le sigle en anglais : SEFA) a approuvé un don d’une valeur de 993 000 USD en faveur de l’entreprise ougandaise, Earth Energy Company Limited, au titre de la préparation du tout premier projet de gazéification de la biomasse dans le pays. Ce projet devrait aboutir à une production complémentaire de 20 mégawatts d’électricité de base au réseau national. Le don facilitera en particulier la réalisation d’études préliminaires nécessaires au démarrage du projet, notamment une étude de faisabilité technique complète, une évaluation de l’impact environnemental et social, une étude d’ingénierie et de conception préliminaire et détaillée, ainsi que des activités de gestion du projet. Cet appui participe des efforts de la Banque africaine de développement (BAD) visant à augmenter le nombre d’investissements privés dans les énergies renouvelables.
