Project Brief - Zambia - Maamba Collieries Power Generation Project

The project entails the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of a 300 MW coal-fired power plant, comprising two-150 MW units as well as the revamping of the Maamba Collieries Limited (MCL) coal mine. The project will use the self-burning low grade coal at the MCL mine that has been and continues to cause a serious environmental concern to the surrounding environment. Using the coal to produce electricity with a suitable technology will reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs) emissions associated with self-burning coal.
