The Ministry of Agriculture of the State of Eritrea has received grants from the African Development Fund and Transitional Support Facility to finance the Drought Resilience and Sustainable Livelihoods Programme – Project V (DRSLP-V).
The main objective of the project is to contribute to food and nutrition security and sustainable economic development. The specific project objectives are; (1) to improve crop and livestock production and productivity leading to improved net farm incomes of the project beneficiaries, (2) to expand opportunities in agriculture and agribusiness to rural Eritrea as a means to advance rural livelihoods and economic development, and (3) to enhance import substitution through improved value additions and agro processing. In realizing these objectives, the project will contribute to building farmers’ resilience to climate change, and to enhancing carbon stocks.
