Afrique : La Banque africaine de développement soutient la sylviculture en Afrique orientale et australe avec un investissement de 20 millions de dollars

06-sep-2019 - Le Conseil d’administration de la Banque Africaine de Développement a approuvé jeudi 5 septembre 2019, à Abidjan, un investissement de 20 millions de dollars américains en faveur du Fonds africain de la sylviculture (FAS II). FAS II est géré par Criterion Africa Partners (CAP) une société d’investissements spécialisée dans le secteur forestier et basée en Afrique du Sud.

06-sep-2019 - The African Development Bank and the African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP) have signed two grant agreements to implement trade credit guarantees worth $5.4 million to support fertilizer value chains in Nigeria and Tanzania, potentially benefitting hundreds of thousands of smallholder farmers. The organizations held a signing ceremony at the African Green Revolution Forum in Accra, Ghana on 5 September 2019.

02-sep-2019 - Ezulwini, Eswatini, 2 September 2019 – The Kingdom of Eswatini has embarked on a recovery plan to fight its way out of an economic slump, the country’s Finance Minister Neal Rijkenberg said on Monday. Rijkenberg made the remarks during an official visit by African Development Bank Group President Akinwumi Adesina. He said the new government, which took office after elections in November 2018, had adopted a strategic roadmap to guide the economic recovery.

Japan and African Development Bank announce $3.5 billion in support of Africa’s private sector development

30-aoû-2019 - Electricity, transport, and health identified as key priorities Yokohama, Japan, 30 August 2019 - Japan and the African Development Bank on Friday announced a joint target of $3.5 billion under the Enhanced Private Sector Assistance for Africa initiative (EPSA4), during the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 7). Both Japan and the Bank have set a target of $1.75 billion each, from 2020-2022, to enhance the fourth phase of EPSA to spur private-sector-led sustainable and inclusive growth in Africa.

Mozambique: African Development Bank contributes to major power transmission line

30-aoû-2019 - The African Development Bank is to part-finance the construction of a 563 km power transmission line in Mozambique, after signing the agreement on 28 August to start the Temane transmission project, approved by the Board in July. The Bank will contribute $33 million in grants to the project.

African Development Bank Group signs $28.8 million grant deal with Somalia for road and water projects

29-aoû-2019 - Mogadishu, Somalia, 29 August 2019 – The African Development Bank Group on 27 August 2019 signed two grants for $28.8 million for road and water supply projects to improve livelihoods in Somalia and boost resilience. The grants, approved by the Bank’s Board on 19 July 2019, confirm sustained efforts, especially by the African Development Fund, to tackle fragility in the Horn of Africa. They comprise $11.99 million for the Kismayo Baidoa urban water project and $16.86 million to partly finance a $66.7 million road.

Yokohama, Japan, 28 August 2019 – The Sasakawa Association will work with the Japan International Cooporation Agency (JICA), to help double rice production to 50 million tonnes by 2030.  Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe made the announcement at the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) symposium held on Wednesday during TICAD7.

Zimbabwe: African Development Bank supports post cyclone recovery efforts with $24.7 million

27-aoû-2019 - The African Development Bank Group on 21 August 2019 signed a deal to support Zimbabwe’s post-cyclone Idai recovery plans with $24.7 million as part of its lead role to help restore livelihood and infrastructure in areas most hit by the disaster this year. Cyclone Idai hit the southern African nation in March, causing loss of lives, devastation, displacement and extensive damage to infrastructure in some eight districts. The Bank Group initially responded to the calamity with $250,000 to support the humanitarian aid response.

TICAD7, hosted by Japan and co-organised by the United Nations Office of the Special Advisor on Africa (UN-OSSA), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aims at “promoting high-level policy dialogue between African leaders and development partners.”
