06/03/2017 - On March 1, 2017, African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina made a courtesy call on Suad Sayed Ali Omer Beheiry, widow of the first President and founding father of the African Development Bank Group, the late Dr. Mamoun Beheiry. Having been briefed of the presence of Mrs. Beneiry in Khartoum, President Adesina made the visit a priority, which he said was the only way to communicate to Mrs. Beheiry the extent to which the Bank, and indeed Africa as a whole, appreciated the efforts and visionary leadership of her late husband Dr. Beheiry.

03/03/2017 - As part of his three-day official visit to Sudan, the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, met with the Director General of Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), Sidi Ould Tah, to explore further cooperation and consolidate existing relations between the two institutions.

03/03/2017 - On March 1, 2017, African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina concluded his three-day official visit to Sudan with a wrap-up meeting with the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning. The meeting was attended by Senior Officials of Government, including the Undersecretary, Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, the Central Bank Governor, the Sudanese Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire as well as the Bank’s Executive Director for Sudan, the Director General for Eastern Africa and the Country Manager in Sudan.

02/03/2017 - Le lundi 27 février 2017 à Khartoum, le président Akinwumi Adesina de la Banque africaine de développement (BAD) a rendu une visite de courtoisie au président de la République du Soudan, Omar al-Bachir, qui était accompagné du ministre des Finances et de la Planification économique, Badre Eldin Mamhoud Abbas. C’était lors d’une visite officielle dans le pays. M. Adesina était entouré de l’administrateur pour le Soudan, Kwabena Boadu Oku-Afari ; du directeur général de la BAD pour l’Afrique de l’Est, Gabriel Negatu et du directeur-pays de la Banque au Soudan, Abdul Kamara.

02/03/2017 - As part of his official visit to Sudan, Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group, met with the diplomatic community in Sudan. The meeting comprised Ambassadors of the Bank’s regional and non-regional member countries, the Ambassador of the African Union (AU), the Director General of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), and the Sudan Country Directors of the World Bank, UN-Women and UNDP.

01/03/2017 - On February 28, 2017, the President of the African Development Bank visited the Kenana Sugar Company (KSC) in Sudan, which is by far Africa’s largest sugar-producing agro-industrial complex and world’s largest producer of white sugar. The company operates a cane farm of 105,000 acres of land and produces 400,000 metric tons of raw sugar annually, both for domestic consumption and for export. The company employs some 16,000 people, including 4,000 seasonal workers, and generates an annual revenue of US $400 million.

28/02/2017 - On Monday, February 27, 2017, the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, met the Sector Ministers of the Government of Sudan to reinforce the Bank’s support to the country’s economic development. The meeting, which discussed the Bank’s current and future interventions in Sudan, was chaired by Badreldin Mahmoud Abass Mukhtar, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning (MoFEP) and Governor of the AfDB. The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Agriculture and Forests, Industry, Water Resources and Electricity, Welfare and Social Security, Health, and Education. Discussions with the Ministers focused on the challenges confronting their respective Ministries as well as the assistance required from the Bank.

28/02/2017 - On Tuesday, February 27, 2017, Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), visited Garri Power Station located in Khartoum and discussed the Government of Sudan’s planned power interconnection project that is to boost electricity supply in Sudan by 3,750 MW. The Bank President was joined by the Executive Director (ED) Kwabena Boadu Oku-Afari, representing Sudan at the AfDB; the Bank’s Director General for East Africa, Gabriel Negatu; and the Country Manager for Sudan, Abdul Kamara.
