Japan and African Development Bank announce $3.5 billion in support of Africa’s private sector development

30-aoû-2019 - Electricity, transport, and health identified as key priorities Yokohama, Japan, 30 August 2019 - Japan and the African Development Bank on Friday announced a joint target of $3.5 billion under the Enhanced Private Sector Assistance for Africa initiative (EPSA4), during the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 7). Both Japan and the Bank have set a target of $1.75 billion each, from 2020-2022, to enhance the fourth phase of EPSA to spur private-sector-led sustainable and inclusive growth in Africa.

Mozambique: African Development Bank contributes to major power transmission line

30-aoû-2019 - The African Development Bank is to part-finance the construction of a 563 km power transmission line in Mozambique, after signing the agreement on 28 August to start the Temane transmission project, approved by the Board in July. The Bank will contribute $33 million in grants to the project.

African Development Bank Group signs $28.8 million grant deal with Somalia for road and water projects

29-aoû-2019 - Mogadishu, Somalia, 29 August 2019 – The African Development Bank Group on 27 August 2019 signed two grants for $28.8 million for road and water supply projects to improve livelihoods in Somalia and boost resilience. The grants, approved by the Bank’s Board on 19 July 2019, confirm sustained efforts, especially by the African Development Fund, to tackle fragility in the Horn of Africa. They comprise $11.99 million for the Kismayo Baidoa urban water project and $16.86 million to partly finance a $66.7 million road.

African Development Bank President to visit the Kingdom of Eswatini

TICAD7, hosted by Japan and co-organised by the United Nations Office of the Special Advisor on Africa (UN-OSSA), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aims at “promoting high-level policy dialogue between African leaders and development partners.”
