Equatorial Guinea signs Lusophone Compact: new milestone in initiative to accelerate sustainable private sector development

The African Development Bank and the governments of Equatorial Guinea and Portugal have signed a country-specific memorandum of understanding for the implementation of the Lusophone Compact, which aims to accelerate private sector development in Portuguese-speaking countries of Africa, known as PALOPs. Angola - Proposal for a Grant of USD 1,000,000 for Emergency Food and Nutrition Security for Children in Bié Region - Project Appraisal Reports

A severe drought in the provinces of Lunda Norte, Bié, Huíla, Namibe and Cunene, aggravated by below-average and erratic rainfall and inadequate response to address the most urgent population needs, has plunged 2.3 million people into a food security crisis, among which 491.131 are estimated to be children under the age of five1. The humanitarian condition in the drought-prone provinces has deteriorated as a result of the high basic commodity prices, limited access to clean water and reach of hygiene services mainly due to lack of infrastructures.
