Objectives

The project will increase the reliability of the water supply to the Accra-Tema Metropolitan Area (ATMA) and increase the water production from the existing 250,000 cubic metres/day to 300,000 cubic metres/day. The Project will also strengthen GWSC by providing training of staff and operational equipment.

Description

The project involves the rehabilitation of pumping station equipment and treatment plants as well as limited extension to the distribution network to alleviate the chronic water supply problems to some of the worst affected areas of ATMA. This involves the following: a. Construction of a reservoir at MacCarthy Hill Reservoir b. Supply and Laying of Transmission and Distribution mains c. Supply and Installation of pumping equipment d. Rehabilitation and expansion of the Weija treatment Plant e. Rehabilitation of the Kpong Treatment Plants f. Provision of Operational Equipment g. Consultancy services for design and Supervision
