5Rehabilitation/building of 10 inter-connecting roads between the expressway and the coastal road
Improve overall transport infrastructure in Lagos State.
Upgrade expressway to lower travel times, improve road safety and lower vehicle operating costs. Improve security of road users.
Lagos's growing population especially along this corriodor has put pressure on the existing transportation infrastructure e.g the existing expressway leading to unacceptable traffic jam especially during the rush hour with travel times for relatively short distances e.g 5km of close to 4-5hours in places.
As a case in point, it took us 5.25 hours to travel from the Governor's office on the main land Lagos(on the date of the signing of finance doccuments) to travel to Victoria Island, a distance that under normal traffic situation should not take more than 30 minutes.
Economic and social benefits to the people of Lagos state through improved road infrastructure, increase in road safety along the Lekki corridor, lower vehicle operating costs and incread employment to the people of Lagos. First PPP in the transport sector in Nigeria and will serve as a benchmark to other PPP concessions in the country.
