"Provide adequate transmission infrastructure to link existing and future generation sources located in the South and Southwest of Tanzania to the load centers in the Mwanza and Arusha regions in the North. "Facilitate regional power trade in the future especially with Kenya to the North and Zambia to the South
Tanzania is endowed with hydro power sites in the south and south west of the country. In addition the discovery of gas in the south of the country has incaresed its capacity to develop gas powered power plants which must be located near the gas fileds in the south. However, the power demand is mainly in city of Dar Es Saalam and other cities mainly located in the North of the country. It is therefore imperative that a strong transissmission link be establshist btween power generation sites and main load centers.
