Sudan Poverty Profile As part of the implementation of Sudan’s Poverty Reduction Strategy, the Central Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of the Sudan conducted a 2014-2015 national Baseline household budget survey in with the technical and financial support of the African Development Bank.The survey’s main objective was to provide socioeconomic information to inform the design and implementation of effective socioeconomic programs and policies. Dynamique de la pauvreté à Madagascar de 2005 à 2013 Ce rapport intitulé « Dynamique de la pauvreté́ à Madagascar entre 2005 et 2013 » est le fruit d’une étude menée par le département des Statistiques (ECST) de la Banque africaine de développement en étroite collaboration avec l’Institut National de la Statistique à Madagascar (INSTAT). Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) The year on year, inflation rate (annual percentage change) in the COMESA region as measured by the Harmonized Consumer Price Index (HCPI-COMESA) stood at 24.9% for the month of October 2018, up from 23.9% registered in September 2018. A year earlier, the rate was 25.7%. SADC Harmonised Consumer Price Indices (HCPI) The SADC Region registered annual inflation rate of 8.1% in October 2018 compared to October 2017 as measured by the HCPI. Month on Month inflation rate registered an increase of 0.7% in October 2018 compared to September 2018. African Statistical Yearbook The African Statistical Yearbook 2019 is a result of these concerted and coordinated efforts among the three main continental institutions (AfDB, AUC, and UNECA) in their quest to provide users with quality statistical information to inform Africa's development initiatives. Country Assessment of agricultural Statistical Systems in Africa The Statistics Department of the African Development Bank is pleased to share with users this Report/Publication titled “Country Assessment of agricultural Statistical Systems in Africa - Measuring the Capacity of African Countries to Produce Timely, Reliable, and Sustainable Agricultural Statistics”. Compendium of Statistics on Bank Group Operations Compendium of Statistics on Bank Group Operations is an annual publication of the African Development Bank Group, presenting data on operational activities of the Bank Group. Part One gives cross-country statistics on Bank operations and Part Two provides country-specific information on each regional member country of the Bank. The present publication was prepared in the Economic and Social Statistics Division of the Statistics Department. Gender, Poverty and Environmental Indicators on African Countries Gender, Poverty, and Environmental Indicators on African Countries is published by the Statistics Department of the African Development Bank Group. The publication also provides some information on the broad development trends relating to gender, poverty and environmental issues in the 54 African countries. Gender, Poverty and Environmental Indicators on African Countries 2019 was prepared by the Economic and Social Statistics Division of the Statistics Department. Africa Tourism Monitor The report presents some of the major opportunities and challenges facing the diversification of the travel and tourism industry in Africa – from generating revenue and creating jobs to attracting new travel and tourism markets; and from developing niche tourism products to sustaining hotel and airline growth; and from leveraging social media to utilizing on-line travel engines. African Statistical Journal Since November 2005, the Bank publishes bi-annually The African Statistical Journal which is intended to foster improved communication and contact among analysts, policy makers and data producers in Africa. It is established also to serve as a research outlet and information sharing publication among academic and practicing statisticians mainly in Africa. The Journal aims to promote the understanding of statistical development in the African region. Guidelines for Building Statistical Business Registers in Africa The general objectives of the Guidelines are provide guidance in developing a survey frame to be used as the source of frames for all economic and business surveys, as well as provide (i) a general background to the need for an SBR and the concepts on which it is based (ii) a description of the functions of an SBR (iii) detailed information on SBR development and implementation and (iv) a starting point for harmonization of SBRs across African National Statistical Offices (NSOs). Main results of the 2011 round of the ICP The new report Comparing the Real Size of African Economies: Highlights of the Main Findings of the 2011 Round of the International Comparison Program in Africa is based on the price survey data and national accounts collected from 50 of the African Development Bank’s regional member countries (RMCs). Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) Report Africa’s poverty rates have continued to decline, despite the adverse effects of the recent food, fuel, and global economic crisis, according to the 2014 MDG Report, “Assessing Progress towards the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Africa”, produced annually by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the African Union Commission (AUC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Report on Food Price Collection in Africa We are pleased to share with you a report entitled “Using web and mobile phone technologies to collect food market prices in Africa. Approaching real-time data and use of crowdsourcing, 2013 – 2016”, which was prepared jointly by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the Statistics Department at the African Development Bank (AfDB).
