Botswana: African Development extends US$80m line of credit to help industrialization and regional integration

The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has approved a USD 80 million line of credit to the Botswana Development Corporation Ltd (“BDC”) to help the country’s industrialization and regional integration. The line of credit will be provided via the African Development Bank’s private sector window and will be used to finance local companies in the Botswana's manufacturing, transport, logistics and services sectors. The Country Strategy Paper (CSP) provides a framework for the Bank Group support to Botswana for the period 2014-2019. The CSP was developed within the context of the Government’s medium term-development framework, the 10th National Development Plan (NDP10) for the period 2009-2016. It has taken into account the Bank’s strategic priorities as outlined in the Bank’s Ten Year Strategy (TYS) for the period 2013-2022.
