Project Brief - Côte d’Ivoire - Azito Power Expansion

Expansion of the Azito power plant in Côte d'Ivoire, by converting the existing simple-cycle power plant of 2 x 144 MW gas-fired turbines to a combined-cycle power plant, thereby increasing the capacity of the facility to approximately 430 MW.

Project Brief - Côte d’Ivoire - CIPREL Power Expansion Project

To increase the existing plant capacity by MW 222 and thereby help Côte d’Ivoire to meeting its growing energy needs through the provision of a reliable and affordable electricity supply while reducing the environmental footprint associated with the energy production process

Expansion of the existing 220 MW single cycle gas/fuel oil power plant to 330 MW combined cycle at Takoradi in Western Ghana. The existing plant has been in operation since September 2000. The expansion will use 2 heat recovery steam generators placed in the exhaust path of the gas turbines and is scheduled to deliver power as early as third quarter of 2013.

Project Brief - Kenya - Thika Thermal Power Project

Construction and operation of an 87 MW thermal power plant located on land owned by The Kenya Power and Lighting Company Limited (“KPLC”) in the Athi River region 35 km from Nairobi. The plant comprises 5 heavy fuel oil generators that can be converted to natural gas if gas becomes available, and a 7 MW steam turbine. The steam turbine increases the efficiency of the plant and thus reduces carbon emissions. The project will supply electricity to KPLC under a 20 year PPA.

Project Brief - Zambia - Maamba Collieries Power Generation Project

The project entails the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of a 300 MW coal-fired power plant, comprising two-150 MW units as well as the revamping of the Maamba Collieries Limited (MCL) coal mine. The project will use the self-burning low grade coal at the MCL mine that has been and continues to cause a serious environmental concern to the surrounding environment. Using the coal to produce electricity with a suitable technology will reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs) emissions associated with self-burning coal.
