MDB forum report

04-Feb-2000

From November 22nd, the Bank organized a three-day forum on risk management for multilateral development banks. The forum, the fourth annual event for MDB risk managers, was co-hosted with the DBSA and the IDC. Impact – The MDB risk management forum was modeled on similar events organized by the EBRD in 2003, the IBRD and IADB in 2002, and the EIB in 2001. Although the initial expectation was to accommodate 20-25 participants as in 2003, 45 participants from 13 organizations finally attended the forum. In addition to the original group of sponsoring MDBs, this year’s event included first-time representatives from MIGA (the political risk guarantee agency), the DBSA and the IDC. We invited a representative from the Islamic Development Bank but the IsDB representative regretfully had to cancel due to a schedule conflict. As evidence of the perceived benefits of this annual peer group exchange, some institutions sent large and high-level teams in response to our invitation .
