Newsletter - Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program - Issue 1

The African Development Bank, in partnership with the Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA), launched a joint initiative – the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP) – which aims to mobilize USD 25 billion by 2025 to scale up and accelerate climate change adaptation actions across Africa through interventions in four priority areas/pillars: (i) food security, (ii) resilient infrastructure, (iii) youth innovation and job creation, and (iv) innovative finance. To date, AAAP has supported 42 projects including 20 investment operations and 22 technical assistance projects in 36 countries and has garnered support from over 30 African heads of state and other global leaders, recognizing it as a key vehicle to operationalizing the Africa Adaptation Initiative’s mandate.
