The All Groups CPI was 113.14 in the month of January 2020, compared with 114.64 in the month of December 2019. The monthly change, January 2020 compared to December 2019, was a decrease of -1.31 percent. This is compared to a monthly decrease of -1.27 percent in the previous month of December 2019. The All Groups CPI was 114.64 in the month of December 2019, compared with 116.10 in the month of November 2019. The monthly change, December 2019 compared to November 2019, was a decrease of -1.27 percent. This is compared to a monthly decrease of -0.12 percent in the previous month of November 2019. There were no significant monthly price increases during the month of December. Over the twelve months to the month of December 2019 (inflation rate), the All Groups CPI decreased to 3.13 percent, compared with 3.81 percent over the twelve months to the month of November 2019

The year on year, inflation rate (annual percentage change) in the COMESA region as measured by the Harmonized Consumer Price Index (HCPI-COMESA) stood at 23.4% for the month of September 2019, up from 22.8% registered in August 2019. The All Groups CPI was 115.41 in the month of August 2019, compared with 116.36 in the month of July 2019. The monthly change, August 2019 compared to July 2019, was a decrease of -0.81 percent. This is compared to a monthly decrease of -0.55 percent in the previous month of July 2019.
