Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV) of the African Development Bank will hold a learning event on Wednesday, 29 November 2023 for stakeholders to gain a deeper understanding of sustainable development interventions.

The event, Improving the sustainability of development interventions: what will it take? will provide a platform for sharing knowledge, experiences, and good practices to enhance the sustainability of impact of the Bank’s development interventions. Through evaluative knowledge, the event will explore which strategies are working, which are not, and why. 

An analysis of 72 independent evaluations conducted between 2018 and 2022 found 31 recurring deficiencies in economic and financial sustainability. There were an additional 30 deficiencies in institutional sustainability and the strengthening of capacity.
